Wiseman directed Mesa, 54, to report to the Probation Office for indigency determination.
Assistant Public Defender Richard Miller represented Mesa, while Assistant Attorney General George Hasselback prosecuted the case.
Wiseman directed Mesa to avoid contact with his victims and to return to court for his arraignment on Nov. 30, while a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Nov. 17.
Associate Judge Ramona Manglona ordered Mesa’s arrest last month.
On July 18, 2009, Detective Andrea Ozawa said she responded to a domestic violence incident at the Sabalu Market located at the Civic Center, where she met Mesa and a female household member.
The victim told Ozawa she was shopping for produce when the victim met Mesa and had a talk.
Afterward, police said Mesa threw hot soup on the victim’s face, pulled her hair, and punched her in the head.
On April 9 and 12, 2009, police said Mesa intentionally rammed the victim’s vehicle.
