The golf resort provided farm equipment and helped Kagman farmers increase their production, which represents 65 percent of the farm products on Saipan, Camacho said.
Yesterday, Camacho, together with Saipan municipal council member Felipe Atalig, presented a commemorative resolution to the Laolao management.
Yun Kim, Laolao Bay Golf Resort president, and Tom McKenzie, golf course superintendent, received the resolution.
In its resolution, the municipal council said Laolao Bay Resort helped turn Saipan into a destination of choice for business, vacation and investment.
Laolao’s sense of community “has proven a blessing for the Kagman farmers, who have been beset by the frequent mechanical breakdown of the government farm equipment.”
Camacho, who is also a farmer, said the first good neighbor project undertaken by the golf resort last year provided tractor services to farmers.
Kim, in an interview, said they will continue their community projects in Kagman in support of the local economy.
“This is a token of our appreciation to the community. We want also to share what we have gained from our business,” he said.
McKenzie, for his part, said their support is not only limited to farmers but is also provided to the other sectors in the community, like students. “This is a neighbor helping neighbor program. We try to help the community for the progress of the island.”
