The money to fund these programs will be taken out of the remaining balance of the Mega Bank Loan.
The remaining balance was $ 635,419.
The president said although he believes that Micro Games is not a funding priority, palau has no choice but to honor the commitment of hosting the games.
The Palau National Olympic Committee needs $1.7 million to host the games, but the president said he will no longer support any appropriations from the national government.
He said PNOC have to seek funding from other sources.
Palau won the bid to host Micro Games in 2010 after the Marshall Islands declined to host it. The last time Palau hosted the games was in 1998.
The games is slated from August 1 to 10, with 10 Pacific Island nations participating in 14 sports events.
He however lauds the Legislature for funding hiring of nurses.
“There simply are not enough nurses to meet our current needs,” He said the lack of nurses is a critical situation the hospital as of the moment.
He said that the nurses at the hospital right now are burned out.
