Judge sets $10,000 bail for cop who assaulted girlfriend

Govendo remanded Agulto to the custody of the Department of Corrections when he failed to post bail after yesterday’s hearing.

According to her affidavit, Detective Andrea Ozawa said there is probable cause to believe that Agulto committed assault with dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

Investigation disclosed that Agulto’s girlfriend was found by police hiding behind a bar counter and crying after police responded to a disturbance call at a club in Garapan at about 1:48 a.m. on Nov. 20.

Officer Alexander Sakisat said there were two crime scenes: first at Pakpak Beach in San Antonio, and the second at USSP Bar in western Garapan, where police responded.

Police said Agulto picked up his girlfriend at about 7:15 p.m., Nov. 19, and went to Pakpak Beach.

At the beach, police said Agulto tried to stab the victim’s eye with a plier but the victim was able to take the plier away and toss it.

As the couple stood by one of the pavilions, Agulto racked his firearm, causing one round to fly out of chamber and fall, police said.

Agulto was said to have told his girlfriend that he was going to “kill tonight” while his firearms was leveled at the victim.

After drinking beer at a family member’s house, Agulto and his girlfriend, together with some family members, went to a bar in Garapan.

At the bar, Agulto punched his victim’s right leg, shouted at her, “and told her profanity words.”

The victim was able to ran away after Agulto tried to hit her face with a can of beer.
