Rocball going outdoors

Feger in an email said the Rocball which opened earlier this month, is moving temporarily from the Marianas High School Gym to a sand court from Jan. 1 to 3.

Rocball tournaments had been played in the sand court before, Feger said.

And since the late 1990s and the early part of this century Rocball games will take place again on the sand court of the Pacific Islands Club.

The sand-roc rules, Feger said is basically the same as the rules indoor except for the teams that will have four players, not five, on court. The person serving will be the goalie and will be allowed to charge the net.

The goalie/server will also be allowed to play-off court in the service area and in front of the goal behind the court’s end lines.

Once again, Feger urged interested individuals to form teams and compete in Saipan’s own sport.  It requires a maximum of five and a minimum of four players to register.

Feger also reminds that teams that register for the sand-roc will need at least one current Rocball club member on their roster to waiver a twenty-five dollar entrance fee.

“If you are an individual who likes a volleyball skills type of sport and is not familiar with Rocball’s rules of play, you can “Google” Rocball and read up on the latest rules and regulations of the sport on the Rocball homepage with graphics, news releases of past games, and the synopsis on “Fools Fire”,” Feger said.
