Rota Blue triathlon aims more participants this year

Event coordinator, Glenn H. Manglona, said the presence of Mayor Joseph S. Inos opening the event will high light the triathlon that will kick-off on Nov. 9.

Manglona said the participants and spectators will be seeing a seeing “revolutionary triathlon,” this year as it gets the all-out support from Inos who is completing his last term.

Last year, over 200 participants from KFC Triathlon Club in Japan, as well as triathletes   from Rota, Saipan and Tinian competed in the event.

Manglona said that since this year’s triathlon will be a special one, they are expecting the number to double this time.

“This is one of the most successful means of tourism promotion in Japan from Rota,” Thomas D. Mendiola said.

The Rota Blue triathlon, he added is the largest and most participated event that marks the well-rounded support and encouragement of Mayor Inos’ diligent work in ambassadorship

and his supportive associates in Japan.

Mr. Onishi of the KFC Club LUB of Japan has been nurturing this years event and considered the largest of all with more participants than what the direct charter flights could accommodate, Mendiola added.

For this reason, some of this year’s participants have started arriving in Rota one week ahead of the event.

There will be an orientation meeting for all the participants prior to the day of the event.

The award presentation will be held on Saturday evening  Nov. 14.
