HMAS Bundaberg which is under the command of lady Captain Lt. Commander Anita Sellick arrived on Monday morning at 10 am and was welcomed by Maritime Surveillance Adviser Lt. Commander Kimbal Dunsmore, Australia Ambassador Susan Cox and Bureau of Public Safety Director Norvert Yano.
There were 26 crewmembers aboard the boat.
The boat had just sailed from Philippines and will be sailing back to Australia on Friday, November 13.
Lt. Commander Sellick said another purpose of their goodwill visit is to commemorate the Veterans Day which will be observed on November 11.
She said they will host a cocktail party tonight for all Palauan officials and will do a sunset ceremony to pay tribute to the fallen comrades.
Sellick said it’s her first time to Palau and she is looking forward for some diving activities while here in Palau.
Ambassador Cox commended Lt. Commander Sellick and the HMAS Bundaberg’s participation in the patrol boat program.
She said she is delighted to see a Lady Captain on board.
