He said Mayor Juan B. Tudela will meet with Borja to discuss these issues.
“He hasn’t even seen an actual cockfight,” Benavente said, referring to Borja.
Tudela, however, is aware that illegal cockfights are still ongoing, Benavente added.
He said the mayor does not tolerate illegal activities.
Tudela wants to see cockfight aficionados at the Saipan Cockfight Arena, the only government-designated place for cockfights, Benavente said.
He added that the mayor would not want the legitimate operator of the cockfight arena deprived of revenues. Benavente said Tudela welcomes complaints from the cockers and other members of the community but the board still has to investigate them.
Benavente said evidence should be presented and those found to be responsible for any illegal activities must face the consequences.
