Court denies bail modification in sexual abuse of a minor case

Islam wanted to be released to a third-party custodian and offered a 10-year-old vehicle in lieu of posting 10 percent of $50,000.

“Because of the nature and circumstances of the charged offenses, the weight of evidence against Islam and the potential flight risk and danger that [he] poses to the resident of Saipan, the court denies [the] defendant’s motion,” Associate Judge David A. Wiseman said in his order.

The judge noted that Islam was “stopped at the airport with a one way ticket to an Asian destination. This incident apparently occurred when he learned he would soon be arrested.”
