Disciplinary Tribunal suspends Shadel

In a notice of suspension, the Disciplinary Tribunal suspended Shadel for a period of four months which will take effect on January 21, 2010.

Shadel was suspended after the tribunal found him to have violated the Palau Disciplinary Rules and Procedures.

The disciplinary action stemmed from a complaint filed against Shadel for harassing a debtor when collecting money owed to a company.

“He made statements to an opposing party with no substantial purpose other than to harass and burden her,” the notice said.

The suspension said that during the four month period, Shadel “shall not practice law, accept new retainers, or engage as an attorney in any new cases.”
