FSM attends regional telecom meeting

and Jolden J. Johnnyboy, assistant secretary for communication division, represented the Federated States of Micronesia in the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity Ministerial Meeting held in Bali, Indonesia 12-13 last month. 

The theme of the meeting was “Strengthened the Regional Collaboration towards Broadband Economy.” 

The meeting discussed how the Asia-Pacific nations can identify national objectives on telecommunications and development and how they can strengthen their collaborative efforts to improve on their economic and social programs.

The meeting allowed each country to present their views and share their ideas.

Itimai reaffirmed FSM’s commitment to a regional approach for common solutions and stressed his nation’s need for more development programs like the telecenter pilot projects.

Founded 30 years ago, Asia-Pacific Telecommunity comprises governments, telecom service providers, manufactures of communication equipment, research and development organizations and other stake holders active in the field of communication and information technology.
