SDA’s holiday activities focus on service to others

The students will make a presentation at the center.

“We will be doing Christmas cards for all the manamko’ and have the children interact with them to get to know the elderly better,” said Angie Perez, public relations director of the Saipan Seventh-Day Adventist School.

The Christmas play the school is preparing is now at its final stages, she added.

The entire school will be participating.

“The Christmas play is about giving and believing in the spirit of Christmas, which a lot of times we lose focus. And we really just want to emphasize the giving part of Christmas which is the spirit of God — to give to others,” Perez said.

The play is  tied to the concept of service to others.

“Even our visit to the manamko’ center will reflect our mission statement, which is live to learn, live to love, and live to give,” Perez said.

For the play, the students are doing the set designs and costumes as part of their fine arts class.

“Everything is done by the kids. We like to see them develop their artistic abilities. This is a chance for them to expand their interests by being part of set design or of the drama itself,” Perez said.

“Everyone in the school is involved and the kids from all ages are involved, which is a pretty neat experience to see them all interact and being able to put this together,” she said.

More information about the play will be announced soon.
