The 17th Legislature and the CNMI’s other newly elected officials, including the governor, will be sworn in on Monday.
The assigned offices for the newly elected lawmakers will be announced after the inauguration.
Some of the legislative staffers interviewed by this reporter said they are hoping to be able to move into their new offices by the weekend.
The outgoing senators are Paterno S. Hocog of Rota, Joseph M. Mendiola of Tinian, Maria T. Pangelinan of Saipan, and Felix T. Mendiola of Rota.
Saipan’s Pete P. Reyes and Luis P. Crisostimo, Rota’s Paul A. Manglona and Tinian’s Jude U. Hofschneider will continue to serve the Senate.
There will be new room assignments for Senators-elect Ralph DLG Torres of Saipan, Juan M. Ayuyu of Rota, Jovita M. Taimanao of Rota and Francisco Q. Cruz of Tinian.
In the 20-seat House, 13 new members will be sworn in on Monday.
