The Australian eye doctors have been providing services such as cataract surgery, laser eye treatments, general eye exams, eyelid surgeries as well as glasses.
In addition, the eye specialists are also providing diabetic eye exams for patients needing that service.
The six-member team from Australian, which arrived on island last week, is scheduled to depart this coming weekend.
Dr. John Kearney, an ophthalmologist who is the only eye surgeon on the team, leads the group.
The team includes another ophthalmologist who is providing general eye exams as well as glasses. The team has a surgical nurse and three teenagers from Australia who volunteered to assist the team while they are conducting eye treatment here in Yap.
It is not yet clear as to how many patients have been treated by the Australian doctors since they arrived on island, but according to sources the outpatients waiting area has always been filled with patients coming to see the eye specialists.
