SLLIB, according its president is calling all umpires and other interested volunteers to attend the first clinic at 5:30 p.m. today at the Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.
The clinic will focus on base coverage using both a two-man and three-man mechanic.
Prospective umpires will also answer questions to help the participants broaden their knowledge and understanding of the rules.
“Understanding the rules and how to interpret such rules is as important as executing a squeeze bunt, or even at hit-and-run play,” Rogolifoi said.
Besides the seasoned umpires who have dedicated most of their time volunteering in games, the SLLB is also inviting all the managers, coaches and even Little Big League players to register and avail of these clinics.
“The Saipan Little League believes that good umpiring deserves respect from managers, coaches, players and even spectators. Being versed on the rules and knowing the mechanics of umpiring will earned you that respect. We encourage you to reserve at least one or two hours of your time to attend these clinic,” Rogolifoi added.
