The school obtained a grant of $22,000 from the Government of Canada recently.
Leir who is posted in Canberra, Australia paid a short visit to tour the school facilities and talk to the children and teachers.
The $22,000 grant was requested by the school on Dec. 2009 through the help of Ministry of Education.
Prima Kual, director of Gospel Kindergarten, said they will use the amount to purchase a 15- sitter school van.
“The school was supposed to have a school bus, but it was already old and not safe to use for school service.” Kual said in an interview.
With the new van, the school will be able to transport children going to school and back as well as use it for the school’sfield trips.
The Gospel Kindergarten has 58 students, whose age ranges from three to five. It is considered the first private school in Palau established in 1966.
