Sonia Siwa of Paseo De Marianas Promoters Inc. said the Saipan team is practicing every Tuesday and Wednesday in Koblerville, and on Fridays in Tanapag.
“Our Awaodori dancers are very enthusiastic and dedicated in their practices because they want to make their presentation in April as perfect as they can,” Siwa said.
The Saipan team is composed of about 50 members from Tanapag, Gualo Rai and Koblerville, but anyone who is interested can still join.
“We welcome anyone 7 to 15 years old to join our team,” Siwa said.
They are looking forward to a more colorful event on April 15, she added.
“This is the 25th anniversary of the Koenji Awaodori, and as early as today, we are asking the community to mark their calendars and celebrate with us at the Paseo de Marianas in Garapan,” Siwa said.
About 50 members of the Koenji Awaodori team will be coming here to perform for the anniversary.
“The team from Tokyo will be performing at some schools before the main event,” Siwa said.
Koblerville Elementary School has been confirmed as one of the schools where they will be performing.
The Awaodori Festival is one of the largest in Japan, attracting over 1.3 million tourists every year.
