THE Cardinals outsoared the Blue Jays, 7-5, in a 2025 Saipan Baseball League game at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field on Thursday.
The Cardinals drew first blood in the top of the opening inning, capitalizing on the Blue Jays’ miscues with a run scored off an error to take a 1-0 lead. They extended their advantage in the top of the second, bringing in three more runs, including an RBI single from Nokki Saralu, for a 4-0 cushion.
The Blue Jays mounted a comeback in the bottom of the fourth, starting with an RBI single from Alfred Sasamoto, followed by a two-RBI double by Terrel Rabago. The three-run rally narrowed the deficit to 4-3.
Another run was added by the Bue jays in the bottom of the fifth while the Cardinals responded in the top of the sixth with two runs to maintain the upper hand, 6-4.
However, in the bottom half, the Blue Jays squeezed yet another run to reduce the gap, 6-5.
Despite the Blue Jays’ efforts, the Cardinals added one more run in the top of the seventh and final inning, then held off the Blue Jays to secure the win, 7-5.
