Lanctot, who has a dual law degree from McGill University, has substantial international experience. Before attending law school, she served as an international development volunteer in Lesotho, Africa. She then served as a Parliamentary Monitor in Cape Town, South Africa, after receiving her law degree.
She also worked as a practicing attorney in Canada, working with clients on both civil and criminal matters and advocating before Canada’s highest Court.
Before coming to Palau, she was a project manager for Kensington Tours in Tanzania where she has broadened her expertise on financial management. Recently, she worked as legal advisor to the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia, where she developed not only an expertise with the legislative process, but awareness on the needs of public officials of small island nations as well.
The Senate is “highly confident that Ms. Lanctot will not only be able to complete the varied and complex legal tasks her position demands, but also to form professional bonds with the Senators that will be necessary to be a truly effective legal counselor.”
