Man arrested for theft of electric coconut grinder

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo remanded Freddy T. Pelisamen to the custody of the Department of Corrections after he failed to post $1,000 bail during Monday’s bail hearing.

Assistant Attorney General Brian Gallagher is prosecuting the case, while Chief Public Defender Adam Hardwicke represents Pelisamen.

Pelisamen  was ordered to return to court on Jan. 25 for his arraignment.

According to Detective Jesse J. Stole, Officer Jesus Cepeda was dispatched to the residence of Luis Pelisamen in Chalan Laulau on Nov. 21, 2009, at about 9:42 a.m.

Police learned that Freddy Pelisamen took the electric coconut grinder and sharpening machine from the storage room of the residence.

The victim told police that he located the stolen items at Number One College Market in Fina Sisu on Dec. 9.

The store owner gave his consent and the police took custody of the stolen items.

Police learned from a relative of the Pelisamens that Luis Pelisamen was asked by Freddy Pelisamen to go to Number One College Market because its owner failed to pay him for the stolen items, amounting to $30.

Luis Pelisamen found the electric coconut grinder, ice crushing machine, and the electric sharpening machine at the Number One College Market and reported the discovery to the police.
