Starting today, Jan. 11, the department will temporarily limit the vaccine to everyone except for those children with ages 6 months up to 9 years old.
The purpose for targeting those age groups is because this age groups need to take two doses of the H1N1 vaccine at 21 days interval.
The department said it will continue to provide the second dose for these children who have had their first dose at the state hospital during the H1N1 mass vaccination in December of last year.
According to the department, the immunization group will continue the immunization schedule, but today they will move out to the schools where there is no community health centers and give the vaccine to only those students who have not received any dose of the vaccine from the state hospital.
After they complete the schools where there are no centers, the immunization team will be moving out to those schools in the municipalities where the community health centers are located and provide the same service from there with the assistance of those CHC employees.
For those people in the areas of the Gagil, Tomil, Nimgil and Maap/Rumung Community Health Centers, they should request information from either their doctors or center board member regarding the H1N1 immunization services and schedule.
The department is also informing the public that it will continue to provide them with any update of the H1N1 vaccine as they receive new information from the FSM national government.
