Federal jury rules in favor of Tinian Dynasty

A federal court jury ruled on Friday that Pariyar failed to prove “by a preponderance of the evidence that the expenses associated with her pregnancy was the sole reason for the adverse action she claims [Dynasty Hotel] took against her.”

U.S. District Court of the NMI Chief Judge Alex Munson filed the verdict delivered by the eight jurors.

Pariyar was represented by attorney Stephen Woodruff, while G. Anthony Long served as counsel for Hong Kong Entertainment [Overseas] Investment Ltd., which owns Tinian Dynasty.

Pariyar sued the hotel for discrimination based on pregnancy and gender.

She was hired by the hotel in Feb. 2002 as a casino dealer.

Pariyar said she incurred expenses after she gave birth to a baby girl at the Commonwealth Health Center in June 2005.

Tinian Dynasty renewed Pariyar’s contract in Aug. 2005, and she was promoted as casino inspector in April 2006.

She said once CHC forwarded her medical bills to the hotel, Tinian Dynasty did not renew her contract which expired in Aug. 2006.
