There will be a lot of budget cuts across the board and for some whose hours are cut, they will feel the pinch in their wallets and some will just have to manage wisely for every two-week payday to survive the impact it will have on them emotionally and financially, not to mention the skyrocket prices of rice and meat, and then on top of that, the power and all the bills.
As the going gets tough we as a people better get tougher and smarter with our wallets and sacrifice the little things we crave for like smoke and betelnut and the booze. We can go on without them, right? Just to make sure we have enough money for gas right?
Well, here’s a thought for our lawmakers, since you guys gave the governor the power to distribute the funds, whether they’re local funds or federal funds — wouldn’t it be appropriate if our government pay landowners their land compensation that they have been waiting on for what? 10 years now?
Other landowners have been paid already and this is not fair for those who are still waiting for their land money owed to them by their government.
Land payments would help not only our landowners, but they can spend their money back into our economy and help stimulate it out of its current comatose state.
Even though some lawmakers are saying that our economy is on the rebound we don’t believe them because Saipan has lost about 15,000 jobs.
In these financial hard times our lawmakers better get smart very fast to help our community and small businesses.
