Miss Bikini Open raises $200 for environmental group

“It was a successful show and we thank our sponsors and the community who supported us by showing up for the presentation night on Feb. 5 and the coronation night on Feb. 12,” Hard Rock Café Saipan operations manager Rey Perez said.

The entrance fee for the event was $10 per person, inclusive of one drink.

Event organizer Sharmaine Casquero said they choose  MINA as their beneficiary because the event’s theme was environmental issues.

“We organized the Miss Marianas Bikini Open 2010 to encourage our young people to participate and be more involved in environmental issues and concerns because how we deal with our environment now will affect the future of the next generations,” Casquero said.

Twelve contestants, six males and females, made it to the finals and vied for the Mr. and Miss Marianas Bikini 2010 titles which were won by Jemenniel Recorte, an 18-year old liberal arts student of Northern Marianas College and Diana Jean Castro, a senior student of Kagman High School.

Perez said he will ask MINA  if it can spend some time to acquaint the staff of Hard Rock Café Saipan about environmental issues.
