At least 260 senior students of Marianas High School attended the workshop held at the Saipan World Resort.
Michelle Bella, a student speaker, said NMC was her last resort after graduating from high school, but with the positive things she is now experiencing by studying there, she is recommending the college to senior students.
She encouraged them to pursue higher education by making “baby steps to your goal when you don’t know where to start.”
Dyenina Diaz, a former student of MHS, said NMC taught her the kind of responsibilities she didn’t know how to handle in high school.
She encouraged high school students to pursue higher education by starting at the college before transferring to a university.
During the workshop, MHS students were also assisted in filing out application forms and were provided information about financial aid programs, the Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps and other student programs available on island which may help them through college.
The two-day workshop was part of NMC’s campaign to recruit more students.
“This workshop is important because it exposes our students to the different options that they have after they graduate from high school,” NMC interim President Lorraine Cabrera said. “I am extremely pleased to see the maximum participation of MHS seniors.”
NMC is “extremely thankful” to the Public School System which “contributed to the success of the event.”
Today, the workshop will be attended by students from Saipan Southern High School and Kagman High School.
