FSM Congress committee to conduct public hearings in Yap

In his communication, Mori said his committee will arrive in Yap on Feb. 23, and will be holding hearing with the executive branch of the state government the following day.

On the 25th, a hearing will be held with the Yap legislative branch.

Six congressional bills are subject of the hearings:

• C.B. 16-07 to clarify authority and powers of the insurance board;

• C.B. 16-32 to deposit 50 percent of proceeds from fishing penalties to fisheries observer, program;

• C.B. 16-53 to limit exemption from tax on gross revenues,

• C.B. 16-69 to establish a maximum interest rate and prohibit lending requirement for FSMDB loans;

• C.B. 16-71 to afford flexibility for the coconut development authority board; and,

• C.B. 16-81 to establish an insurance board and create the office of the insurance commissioner.

In notifying relevant departments and agencies, Anefal said the executive hearing will be at 9 a.m. in the SBDC conference room while the legislative hearing will be conducted in the Yap legislative chamber.

The hearings are open to anyone interested Anefal said.
