Rex Navarrete rocks Saipan

He had the audience laughing non-stop with his unique brand of comedy, doling out his stack of jokes regarding Filipino culture.

He made fun of world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao’s attempt to speak in English.

Navarrete said once Pacquiao wins the fight, the world should turn off their TVs.

“Whenever Pacquiao is being interviewed, the whole Filipino community can do nothing else but to bow their heads and pray,” the comedian jested.

“He  has the power to destroy in a few words what our entire race has tried to master for centuries,” Navarrete continued, referring to Pacquaio’s “broken” English.

Navarrete also poked fun at Pacquaio’s singing talent: “Sometimes when we tats, the honesty’s too mats.”

The audience from the first show came out of the Hibiscus Hall still grinning, giving the audience of the second show at 9:30 p.m. who were waiting outside a hint of what was to come.

“I almost went out in the middle of the show to go to the restroom. I felt I was about to pee in my pants,” one of them later told the Variety.

“Navarrete really has the talent to evoke laughter and take our minds off from the daily pressures of life,” she added.

Jerome Susim of Metro Pacific Productions, which brought Navarrete to Guam and Saipan, said the shows were very successful despite the other activities on island lined up for the night.

“The Hibiscus Hall was full, and there were a lot of late buyers of tickets who showed up. We had to add chairs to accommodate everybody,” Susim told the Variety.

He said Navarrete felt so at home with the audience.

“We would like to thank the community for the support. We will definitely do another event here in the future,” Susim said.

He owns and manages the Metro Pacific Productions with Lloyd Baker and Chris Reyes.
