The gatherings of about 30 youngsters ranged from ages 11 and older excited to begin activities that would bring and reap benefits not only for them but also for the up and coming future generations.The theme of the workshop was “Ngeask l’ Ngeaur in Action” and was conducted by Rodrique Blanco Alfred, Darnelle Decherong, Kaya Solomon, Dirkebai Sumang and one of the advisors, Jake Ramon with the assistance of Delegate Horace Rafael, Legislator Maria G. Meltel,Jerome Temengil, Ambassador Jackson Henry and Warren Fukuichi.
The purpose of the workshop, according to the agenda, was to: recruit youth members,review & finalizing of by-laws and articles of incorporation, team building, formal election and establishing commitment from each member and discussing the upcoming youth conference and holiday.
All 30 participants endorsed their membership and commitment to the organization.The members also elected their new officers which were Randy Tomei taking hold of the Presidency; Douglas Schmidt as Vice-President; Delaine Roberts to Secretary position; and S.Dirkebai Sumang as Treasurer.
The primary aim of the Organization as stated in their articles of incorporation shall be to serve the youth of Angaur State and the Republic of Palau and as follows:
• To enable all youth to develop their full potential as citizens and leaders of Angaur State and the Republic of Palau.
• Providing support for the initiation and maintenance of programs and projects which will publicize, preserve, promote and enhance cultural heritage and the natural environment of Angaur State and the Republic of Palau.
• To encourage the promotion and educational activities, dissemination of information, social development programs, cultural exchange and other programs between the citizens of Angaur States and the Republic of Palau and with other nations.
• To develop and/or support existing community facilities and activities throughout Angaur for the benefit of the youth, citizens and visitors to Angaur State and the Republic of Palau;
The workshop started at 10:00a.m. and concluded about 2:30p.m.Members of the organization encourages all Angaur Youth to join.For more information about the organization, any youth from Angaur may contact any of the new officers and/or Angaur State office.The next General Membership meeting was scheduled for April 2010 and everyone will be noticed once concrete time, date and place is set.
The youth organizers would like to convey and express their gratitude of receiving assistance and contributions from Delegate Rafael for the Space rental & purchasing of 40 shirts; Ambassador Jackson Henry for T-Shirts printing @ $100 and $60 donation; Jerome Temengil’s drafting of the By-laws and Articles of Incorporations; Maria G. Meltel assisted with equipment; Jake Ramon for transportation and support; Sylvia Tmodrang for support; Richard Misech for $50 donation; George “Sioch” Kebekol’s donation of$25; and Warren Fukuichi for his donation of $3.00 bi-weekly allotment to the youth’s bank account.
“Any assistance in whatever donations,” said Mrs. Decherong, “are welcome anytime.”
