DPS has to make an announcement also on the status of the Dandan robbery that injured a person. The still unidentified suspect used a rifle in committing the crime last December.
DPS spokesman PO2 Eric David said he had yet to receive reports from those investigating the case.
“Gun owners came to our office and renewed their permits after they read or learned about DPS’s action against non-compliant to the CNMI gun law,” David told the Variety.
He earlier said that 255 gun owners remain unregistered and non-compliant with the law.
David said he will be making updates regarding the results of the department’s Joint Drug and Firearm Enforcement Task Force which is currently taking action through arrest warrants and penal summons to all unregistered and non-compliant gun owners within the commonwealth.
