MORE than a hundred entries were judged to select the best entry, to vie for the title and take the grand prize of a laptop and traveling trophy.
Thomas Taro, vice-president of Cooperative, Research and Extension of PCC, said they had 185 entries out of these, there are 112 entries from the elementary school and 73 from the high school students.
Some of the projects displayed at the STEM fair were decorations made from recycled materials, music video, stories and samples in identifying substance from acid to base, how to split water, how did the land of Babeldaob form and others.
Taro said the STEM fair is organized every year. The goal f this event is to increase the awareness of every young students and to develop their skills.
“We are doing this for several years but this is the first time we changed the name of the event.” Taro said in an interview.
The two-day event brought in participants from several schools both from private and public throughout Palau.
Taro said there are two categories in selecting the winner: the group project and the school.
For the group project in high school division, the 1st prize will get $100, 2nd prize, $75 and 3rd prize, $50.
For the elementary division, the 1st prize is $75, 2nd prize $50 and 3rd prize $35 plus consolation prizes.
