Alfonso Ngiraiwet, Chief Security Belau Airport Security Company, said “The security screeners are required to take the training every year to enhance the ability to do the whole check-in and final screening of every passenger who arrive and depart.”
Ngiraiwet, together with Victor Kumangai, administered the training.
He said they used to bring trainers in from other countries. “But we can do the training now,” shared Ngiraiwet. “We are now certified to do the training ourselves.”
The training took two days. The first day was spent for lectures and theory; and the last day was hands-on training. The trainees were divided into two groups. The first group had their training in December and the second group in February.
Ngiraiwet said that they comply with the international standards of aviation security; and through trainings, they update themselves with these regulations.
