Celis homers twice, Island Rebels rout Go for Broke

Celis who is trying to be the first Island Rebels to earn a spot on this season’s top 15 batters also had four runs as he went 3 for 4 in the game that lasted until the fifth inning.

Outfielder, Roy Celis also homered to drive in three runs in the top of the fifth inning to help assure the Island Rebels a 10-run mercy rule victory.

Left fielder Byron Kaipat hit an RBI single while Craig Sanchez drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

Celis’ solo home run came in the second inning after Marvin Palacio’s one-run single. His two-run HR saved the day for the Island Rebels in the fourth after two batters’ fly balls got caught on the left field.

Roy’s three-run home run came after BJ Babauta rocketed a three-run double in the fifth inning.

Third baseman Alfred Hocog hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second—one of the two runs that Go for Broke scored in the ball game.

San Roque 13, Ramblers 4

Chris Camacho’s three-run home run secured San Roque’s lead in the bottom of the first inning and Tony Luzama helped pull away in the second with his two-run home run to beat the Ramblers 13-4.

Starting pitcher Manny Tenorio had five strike outs before he was relieved by Luzama who struck out one in the top of the seventh inning.

EJ Tenorio led off a single and Luzama tripled in the first which San Roque punctuated with five runs.

After Luzama’s home run in the second, two more runs came from Jon Tenorio and Chad Atalig, so San Roque widened the gap.

Derrick Sablan, Camacho and Paul Camacho singled and scored runs to give San Roque a stronger lead. Luzama struck out Jimmy Manalo in the seventh inning ending the Ramblers hope to survive.

Advance Xterminators 18, Freedom Air Flyers 9

John Cepeda went 4 for 4 with a two-run double in the bottom of the third inning and the Advance Xterminators kept climbing in the season standings over Freedom Air Flyers.

John Acosta led off a single, centerfielder JJ Cabrera loaded the bases with a single and Poland Masaharu drove Acosta in on a base on ball. Cabrera scored a run on a throwing error before right fielder John Taitano hit a single.

After Cepeda’s two-run double in the third, Bob Castro drove him in with double as well helping the Advance Xterminators to stretch the lead to five runs.

Taitano and Cabrera caught fly balls to hold the Freedom Air Flyers scoreless in the top of the fourth. On the batting plate, the Xterminators continued the surge with Masaharu and Castro hitting an RBI single apiece and Manny Cabrera knocking-in a two-run double to pull away.

Red Eye 5, Team Familia 0

Pitcher Jose Ping Santos gave up seven hits but allowed no runs to help Red Eye shut Team Familia out.

Joshua Sablan drove in a run with a walk in the bottom of the second inning.

Noki Torres led off a single, Luis Arriola knocked-in a run-scoring single and Santos fired a two-run double in the fourth.

The Team Familia batters had 15 fly balls that landed in Red Eye defenders’ gloves.
