Judiciary Historical Society names Stowell executive director

“Jim’s managerial skills and respect for history are a great contribution to have attending to the administrative needs of the Society as it presses forward to expand upon its community efforts this year and beyond,” said Chief Justice Miguel S. Demapan, the chairman of the board of the Historical Society.

At the meeting the Historical Society committed to a $5,500 contribution to the Summer Pre-Law Program to be conducted from July 5 to 23, 2010 at the Guma’ Hustisia. The program will prepare participants for the first year of law school with emphasis on developing critical thinking and analytical skills needed for the curriculum. The Northern Marianas Bar Association and the Commonwealth Judiciary are co-sponsors of the event and will provide assistance to each participant.

The Northern Marianas Judiciary Historical Society is a non-profit corporation established in November 2003 to conduct and sponsor community outreach programs such as the Justice Teaching Institute, the Prelaw Program, Law Week and the Tafan Eskuela (Let’s Go to School) effort, aimed to assist younger members of the community as they begin their education.
