One thing teens shouldn’t worry about, however, is finding a tasty yet affordable place to eat during lunch.MV Teen, through word of mouth and a little bit of adventuring, found three places where students on tight budgets can eat tasty food with minimal cost.
Those craving Chinese food should head over to Tan Ji’s, located on Middle Road, across from Pizza Hutt.Prices here range from $3 to $4, and having it served with fried rice instead of plain rice only costs an additional $1.Naturally, food at Tan Ji’s isn’t on the same level with prestigious Chinese restaurants on island, but this humble restaurant definitely packs a bang for the buck.MV Teen definitely recommends ordering the Kung Pao Beef or the Spicy Shredded Pork.Ordering both at the same time can be a third option too, by the way.Yeah, they’re that good.
To flip things around, teenagers with the munchies for a more Western-style dish should head over to either one of the Shirley’s Coffee Shop branches in Century Hotel or the one across from Mt. Carmel. On weekdays, Shirley’s offers its Student Menu.Food on the Student Menu is priced higher at $5.50, but, unlike Tan Ji’s if you dine in it comes with a free drink of whatever choosing (except alcohol, of course). There are only six choices on the Student Menu, however. The entrees available are BBQ short ribs, yakisoba, spaghetti, cheeseburgers, Salisbury steak, and Shirley’s famous fried chicken.
Japanese food lovers on a tight budget should definitely head to Kaizokou, located on Beach Road, across from the Saipan Grand Hotel. There is a $5 special lunch that varies from day to day.The special lunch is also served with miso soup, and to top it off, it comes with iced tea.Although food here changes daily, we at MV Teen can assure you that the dishes served are always exquisite.
We here at MV Teen know that every now and then, teenagers want something special in their lunch while they are out and about with their friends. With the deals we mentioned above, we can assure that you can get a wholesome meal every time you’re out.
