29th Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival starts tonight

Tonight’s opening ceremony will include performances from the Ukelele Group, the Inatuas cultural dancers, Tropikool Blendz, D’Isla Dancers, Maluw Band, Inetnon Gef Pago dancers, Talofa Dancers, and the Chamolinian Warriors.

Commonwealth Council for Cultural Arts executive director Angel S. Hocog said there will be no parade and floats competition this year.

Tomorrow, there will be a special presentation of festival artist dedication, the visiting delegations from Tinian, Rota, Guam and Kosrae, and the Beautify CNMI 2010 Environmental Awards starting at 10 a.m.

Non-stop entertainment is in store for guests all through the day until 11 p.m. from different performers. There will be live presentations of Chamorro and Carolinian arts and culture throughout the festival.

The Flame Tree Arts Festival offers guests a chance to partake of the island’s delicacies from 20 food vendors including Canton Restaurant, Spicy Thai Noodle, Fong’s Bakery, Sierra’s Pearl Shake, Java Joe’s, Shirley’s Coffee Shop, G7, D’Elegance, K.C. Poons, Inc., Ty & Tia, Ebisuya, Matty Alliance, Kinpachi Restaurant, M-11 Ent., Hula Girl, BOG/Little League, FAHA and Gourmet Restaurant.

Guests can also check out the colorful “one stop shop” mix of arts and crafts from both  CNMI and off-island artists in 75 booths which offer island souvenirs and trinkets.
