Vilma Reyes of Eucon told the Variety yesterday that they have not set any deadline for the scholarship program extension.
“We will still accept applications and we are inviting students who are qualified for the scholarship program to come and avail of this offer,” Reyes said.
She said this is the first scholarship program they are offering to elementary and high school students as part of their effort to strengthen their community outreach.
To qualify for the scholarship program, a student must be a resident of Saipan and must show an exceptional ability and potential in math, science and English.
The applicant must also have excellent academic standing. This means that students with a GPA of “A+ or 100” are entitled to a 50 percent scholarship on tuition fees. Students with a GPA of “A or 91-99” are entitled to a 40 percent scholarship on tuition fees, while those with a GPA of “A- or 90” are entitled to a 30 percent scholarship on tuition fees.
Reyes is urging qualified applicants to visit the Eucon business office, fill out an application form and bring all the requirements such as birth certificate and proof of residence. The scholarship program is not available to foreign students or those who need a student visa.
Reyes said applicants will be invited with their parents for an interview and if they meet all the requirements, the scholarship will be awarded.
The scholarship covers tuition fees only and does not include the registration fee, school uniform and other miscellaneous expenses.
The scholarship program is on a first come first serve and is part of the outreach program of the Christian Bible Church.
