THE Blue Jays outlasted the Blue Sharks, 5-3, in a 2025 Saipan Baseball League matchup at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field on Friday.

The game began with both teams evenly matched, each leaving runners on base but failing to score, resulting in a scoreless opening inning.

The Blue Sharks remained scoreless in the top of the second inning, while the Blue Jays capitalized in the bottom half to take the lead.

Nate Sablan connected for a single and stole his way to third, creating a scoring opportunity that was nearly lost after two quick outs. However, Damien Pangelinan broke the silence with another single. During a pickoff attempt, Sablan slipped home to score, and Pangelinan followed shortly after, giving the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead.

The Blue Sharks finally got on the board in the top of the third, with Orren Cruz scoring on an error. But the Blue Jays’ Nate Sablan responded with an RBI single in the bottom half to keep his team ahead, 3–1.

In the top of the sixth, the Blue Sharks’ efforts paid off as they scored two runs to tie the game at 3-3.

However, the Blue Jays regained the lead in the bottom half, adding two more runs thanks to James Salalila’s RBI single, making it 5-3.

Though the Blue Sharks had one final chance to rally, they were only able to advance a runner to second base before the Blue Jays recorded the final three outs to secure the victory.
