Youth clinic to promote healthy dancing

The Youth Dance Clinic is slated to open from Aug. 16 to Sept. 3, but project coordinator Sharmaine Casquero said they are planning to continue the program after the initial three-week clinic to promote healthy dancing to the young people.

“We are urging especially those who are inactive and those who think they need more physical activities to join because during the clinic, the participants will be dancing for an hour everyday,” Casquero said.

The Youth Dance Clinic is divided into three categories — for 5-10-year-olds, 11-15 years old and 16-18 years old.

The dance clinic for the 5-10-year-old category is  from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. or from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. every day.

For the 11-15-year-old category, the dance clinic is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. or from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., while those in the 16-18-year-old class will have their clinic from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. every day.

“After this initial schedule, we hope to put up a regular dance clinic where students, especially those who are prone to diabetes and obesity, can enroll and minimize the risks in the future,” she said.

Casquero said after the three-week clinic, they will be holding a recital at a venue which will be announced later for the participants to showcase the skills they’ve learned at the clinic.

The registration fee is $60.
