HAVE you noticed our newly paved roads and freshly painted lanes? Beautiful, right? Especially that shiny center lane. Too bad some folks are treating it like their personal freeway.
Let’s clear this up: the center lane is for left turns only. Not for cruising, passing, merging, texting your cousin, or deciding what’s for dinner. It’s not a third lane. It’s not a vibe. It’s a turn lane.
Yet every day, we see drivers —young, old, lost, overconfident —just hanging out in the center like it’s a hammock. Why? Seriously — why are people still not knowing the basic rules of the road when making a turn? Did everyone skip driver’s ed?
So please: use it right, or get out of it. Because the center lane isn’t the problem — it’s the people who don’t know how to use it.
And if you’re still confused, maybe it’s time to retake that written test. Or at least stop treating the center lane like it’s your living room. Because next time, it might be DPS officer pulling in beside you…and they’re not turning left!
Your family is waiting. Drive safely!
