Park Ranger Nancy Kelchner said that the park once again partners with the Division of Environmental Quality and Coastal Resources Management to provide students and other members of the community a week of eco-learning and other fun activities.
“We would like everyone to get out and join us at the Visitor Center and amphitheater from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. every day until April 24,” Kelchner said.
This annual event is an opportunity for families of the CNMI to participate in a fun learning experience that promotes “Living with the Earth.”
The event started with family activities yesterday and included recycle crafts, cultural colors bead art, cultural stories narrated by a professional story teller, and a free movie for children of all ages.
Kelchner said today, starting at 8 a.m., there will be school activities including scavenger hunts, recycle crafts, and a free movie titled “The Lorax,” which will start at 3 p.m.
Tomorrow, school activities will continue and the free movie will be “Home,” which will be screened at 3 and 5 p.m.
An eco festival will be held on Wednesday and Thursday at the amphitheater while a free animated movie will be shown at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
On Thursday, the free movie is entitled “The End of The Line” and it will be shown at 5:30 p.m.
This is a movie that looks beyond the surface of the seas to reveal a troubling truth beneath — an ocean increasingly empty of fish.
Kelchner said school activities will continue on Friday and will include scavenger hunts and recycle crafts.
April 24 will be the culmination of the week-long event and is also National Junior Ranger Day.
