Continental plans to change Yap flight schedule

Continental Micronesia outlines that the current status of the flight schedule does not allow for a Manila connection for medical needs; allocation of seats is inefficient; the flight schedule is inconvenient for Palau customers; coordination of Yap vs. Palau seats and cargo space is a challenge.

To alleviate the flight schedule, Continental Micronesia plans to implement a Manila connection via Guam on the Wednesday morning service, introduce a new Boeing 737-700 aircraft type to Yap with 124 total seats, begin a once-weekly Guam-Yap-Guam stand-alone service on the Tuesday-Wednesday flight, reduce Guam-Yap-Palau — and reverse — service from three times weekly to once weekly on the Saturday-Sunday flight, and maintain connectivity with the rest of the FSM.

The governor in the same letter to the speaker expresses hope that with the proposed changes to the flight schedule, the concerns of Yap exporters, importers, medical referral patients, the tourism industry and the traveling public would largely be addressed.
