Muna has resigned but said he will remain with CUC until Gov. Benigno R Fitial can find his replacement.
Yesterday, Utu Abe Malae, CUC assistant executive director for operation, said he will “informally” assume the duties of Muna.
As of press time yesterday, Malae said he had not seen any memorandum from Muna delegating the responsibilities of the executive director.
When asked if he was the acting executive director, Malae said, “I don’t know.”
However, he said he will follow up on CUC’s funding request to the central government.
“I will be the one to go to the cabinet meeting on Monday,” he told Variety.
On Tuesday, the governor signed an executive order extending the declaration of a state of disaster emergency for CUC to allow him to reprogram funds for its fuel needs.
Muna earlier said that CUC’s fuel supply would last until today after the central government released $300,000 to procure 126,000 gallons of fuel on Tuesday.
He said CUC needs $1.2 million a week to place an order for fuel.
