Camacho, NMI’s top mixed martial arts fighter who switched his focus on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu winning almost all fights to enter BJJ Blue Belt, was promoted last Monday at the Team Lloyd Irvins Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Camp Springs, Mary Land.
Camacho entered the middle weight blue belt division looking to close it out then, found himself winning the 2010 Jiu Jitsu World Championship title.
In an email yesterday, Camacho said he finds it awesome, as he recounts how the promotion night went on, when his other team mates, DJ Jackson and Tracey Goodell were also promoted to purple belt and brown belt respectively.
He also shared enthusiasm about the visit in their gym, of BJJ World Champions, the Mendes brothers of well respected Team Atos for a week of teaching classes. They were on hand to join in the promotional festivities with Team Lloyd Irvin along with Machado Black Belt Alvis Solis
“For those that don’t know the Mendes Bros are multiple time BJJ World Champions. And it was cool that my teammate DJ and I were promoted to purple belt and Tracey to Brown,” Camacho said.
Goodell, after winning her Pan Ams division and the Open division then, was promoted to the rank of Blue Belt only two weeks before the 2010 World Championships.
Two weeks later, she had nine matches and eight submission victories winning her own weight division and the Open Division.
On Monday, Master Lloyd passes Goodell to the rank of Brown Belt.
Jackson who is the 2010 BJJ World Championships’ silver medalist practically won every blue belt division he entered in the last 12 months. He always made it to the finals of the Open Division only to lose to his team mate Willie Leonard.
DJ also got the Bronze at the 2010 Worlds in the Open Division.
Like Camacho, Jackson passes to the rank of purple belt.
