New shoes for Palau Volleyball team

Having a conversation with State Minister Dr. Victor Yano about the volleyball teams of Palau looking for sponsors, Hitachi Plant Technologies Ltd. corporate officer and General Manager Kazuhiko Takino did not falter and immediately agreed to equip the men and women with volleyball shoes in time for the 7th Micronesian Games.

Takino was present to meet the men’s and women’s volleyball squads last Tuesday night and also talked to Team Palau Organizing Committee (TPOC) chairman Senator Regis Akitaya. He said, “The donation of shoes for the volleyball players of Palau is just a small donation that signifies the strong ties between Japan and Palau. We came here to Palau to do also a project on the drinking water for Palau and aside from that we want also to extend a helping hand to Palau and I hope that they do well in the Micronesian games,”.

Furthermore, in behalf of the men’s volleyball, assistant coach Donna Udui uttered their great admiration to Minister Yano to be of assistance to the team in seeking sponsorship. Ms. Udui explained that they wrote to the Minister in helping them find supporters that could help them prepare for the volleyball competition. And with the Minister’s effort to talk with officials from Hitachi Plant Technologies Ltd., he was able to convince the firm to provide the team with new shoes. “It is really a big help and a big boost to the squad and that we really want to thank Minister Yano for helping us,” Udui recapped.
