A staffer of Moomin Mura Restaurant, which is located at the back of DFS Galleria, told the Variety that the burglars gained access into the building by smashing one of the windows at past 1 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The staffer said the burglars took away the cash register and hauled it into @Hair.Comb beauty parlor beside the restaurant. The cash register had over a hundred dollars in cash.
The restaurant staffer said the burglars also went up to the rooms on the second floor where other employees of the restaurant were sleeping. The burglars poked doors with knives but they failed to break the locks.
Evelyn Meting, an employee of @Hair.Comb, told the Variety that the burglars gained entry into the establishment by poking the front door lock with a long knife.
“They tried smashing the windows at the back but they failed,” she said.
Meting said the burglars turned everything inside out, opening drawers and lockers but they only took a DVD player and emptied the contents of the refrigerator.
“They opened all the drawers and bags, probably looking for money but there was none,” Meting said.
She said the burglars seemed to be “relaxed” because they turned on the lights inside the beauty parlor, and even left three empty cans of soda which they took from the refrigerator.
“The suspects may be used to burglarizing establishments because they did not appear to be in a hurry and they even took their time,” Meting said.
She said the burglars left the broken cash register belonging to Moomin Mura Restaurant on the sofa, along with a long sharp knife they used to break it.
The burglars smashed the glass windows of the Double Day Restaurant beside @Hair.Comb Saloon, but they were not able to come in.
Upon discovering the burglary on Saturday morning, she called the police immediately.
“I hope the police can arrest these suspects because if they are left free, they will continue to victimize stores and other establishments,” Meting said.
Moomin Mura Restaurant has been burglarized four times in the past years.
Chancery burglarized twice
Burglars have broken into the chancery of St. Jude Church in Koblerville not once but two times already, Variety learned.
Weeks ago, during the first incident, burglars took the laptop and a vase full of quarters of Fr. Charlito Borja.
In the second incident on June 13, the laptop bag and the priest’s personal collections were among the valuables stolen by the burglars.
Borja told his flock recently that these incidents will not be deter him from serving the church and the community.
Authorities have not released information about the incidents.
