Yumul takes oath as council member

Yumul took his oath of office before his uncle, Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja, at the Saipan mayor’s office.

Witnessing the ceremony were Saipan Mayor Donald G. Flores and Northern Islands Mayor Tobias Aldan.

Both mayors said Yumul will be a “good asset” for the council.

In an interview, Yumul said he supports the Neighborhood Watch Task Force, one of the council’s programs.

“It’s a very good program,” he said.

Municipal council chairman Ramon B. Camacho and vice chairman Eric Diaz did not attend the ceremony.

But Camacho and Diaz earlier congratulated Yumul after the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation confirmed his nomination as council member.

Yumul said he has already met briefly with the two other council members.

One of his concerns, he added, are  the stray dogs on island.

As a tourist destination, Saipan must implement its anti-stray dog program to allow tourists and even residents to freely roam the island without being attacked by these aimals.

Yumul’s family and friends, including his brother Rep. Ray N. Yumul and Rep. Ray Tebuteb, were also present during the ceremony.
