The police sergeant, who declined to be identified, was reacting to Ambrosio T. Ogumoro’s reporting for work yesterday morning after Gov. Benigno R. Fitial reinstated him as DPS deputy commissioner.
In his May 19, 2010 memorandum to DPS personnel, Commissioner Santiago F. Tudela said Ogumoro was “no longer employed” by the department.
It was Tudela who served Ogumoro his walking papers shortly after the deputy commissioner called for a press conference, without Tudela’s knowledge, lambasting the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for “credit grabbing,” and berating a Tinian police officer for “betraying” the department after he collaborated with the DEA, resulting in the arrest of another Tinian police officer and a municipal employee on “ice” charges.
DPS spokesman PO2 Eric David told the Variety that Tudela confirmed to him that Fitial had reinstated Ogumoro.
Another police officer who also declined to be identified said they knew that Ogumoro would return to DPS. “It was just a matter of time,” the police officer told the Variety.
