Zhiming Liu, president of Sterling Corporation which is doing business as Spa Verde, said that they are the first spa to use all organic products.
Liu said he does not see the global economic depression as a reason put aside efforts to establish more businesses and improve the existing ones to survive.
“I don’t consider the existence of so many other spas in the island as a threat and a competition because we have something new to offer to our customers,” Liu said.
Liu said the harsh economic conditions everywhere are beyond everybody’s control, but businesses in the island should look for more opportunities to survive, and work on more methods to keep their businesses open instead of giving up and shutting down.
They came up with the name “Spa Verde” because they want to make their customers feel closer to nature.
Entering the reception area, a customer is treated to the pleasant sound of cascading water on one wall, and the sight of green bamboos for wall décor.
Water also runs in rivulets along the sides at the hallway leading to the three spacious therapy rooms. Each room has two beds each with its own shower, Jacuzzi, restroom, lockers and a small sitting room.
Liu said they are planning to expand to be able to serve more customers in the future.
Spa Verde offers several services including organic facials, body scrubs, body wraps, hair cream bath, and foot reflexology such as foot specials and foot soak.
Liu, a medical doctor by profession, said all the therapists at Spa Verde are well-trained and qualified for their jobs.
Therapist Giselle Pague said they also tested the organic products such as cucumbers, avocado, aloe vera and other treatments on themselves and felt the refreshing effects first so they know firsthand what they are giving to their customers.
Spa Verde also offers Swedish Aroma massage, sports therapy massage, slimming massage, dynamic style Shiatsu, Ashiura Tsubo and oil massage but their specialty is the Hawaain Lomi-Lomi massage, which is an ancient Hawaiian traditional massage that focuses on dispersing energy blockages by using the palms, thumbs, knuckles, and forearms in rhythmic, dance-like motions.
“We are the only spa that offers the Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi massage in the island,” Pague said.
Customers can also avail of combination treatments such as the Gentleman’s Retreat, Island Romance for couples, Rainforest Moisture, Forever Young anti-aging, Tropical Breeze for relaxation, Crystal Venus for detoxifying slimming, Sunburn Rescue Plus, and Verde Facial.
Spa Verde is running a week-long promo with a 30 percent discount on all services beginning on April 16. Local discounts of 20 percent will be available after the week-long promo.
