August 28 marks QQ’s big bang

Mr. Ray Lizama of the Master’s Basketball Federation headed the basketball clinic last August 21, 2010 at the Gilbert C. Ada gymnasium for the benefit of the players and coaches alike for a safe and fun league up ahead of them.

This clinic was followed by another meeting of the team’s coaches headed by veteran referee, Mr. Arnold Mesa, QQ Commissioner Marlon Sison and BANMI President Mr. Elias Rangamar.

Marianas Variety learned yesterday, as part of the league’s advocacy to educate, train, and develop basketball players and coaches, they, as well, would like to introduce a higher-level of indoor and outdoor basketball in the CNMI, “in high hopes that someday soon the CNMI players will be able to play in the professional league as the QQ league has adopted the FIBA Rules.” claimed Mr. Rey Perez League Commissioner, in an email to the Variety yesterday.

The league adopted the ground rules from FIBA’s league for the officials wanted their competitors to play in a safe and fun environment. The officials would want to stray away from “street ball” or basketball games played roughly by the teams. They were very happy to tell the Variety, as well as the community, that all basketball organizations such as UBA, BANMI and the Master’s Basketball Federation were in full support to make this league a success.

The final teams that have registered into the league are as follows: Ferrera Builders, DOCOMO Pacific, Pacific Grocers, Symar Pilot, Westerners, Atalig Associates, Wings Travel, Cellpro, Buarot, and IT & E

The league would like to extend their heartfelt appreciations to their main sponsors, the Pacific Trading Company; Pepsi, Sablan Hardware, and the QQ Car Rental.

QQ’s Car Rental owner James Hann was happy to here the outcome of the meeting and is excited to watch the opening parade of all teams on August 28 at the ADA Gym at 5:30PM with a variety of VIP guests including our Mayor Donald Flores.

Part of the excitement and glamour of the opening shows will be a dance number by Project Impact, Song Numbers plus the awarding of Best Uniform & Best Muse who is expected to receive a $100 Cash prize plus a Trophy.
