CUC Assistant Executive Director Utu Abe Malae said they are looking for competent and energetic individuals with integrity.
“Imagine the disaster for CUC and the CNMI if you hire someone who was by all accounts competent but was then found to be energetically stealing,” he said.
He said they want to avoid mistakes, especially for costly off-island hires.
Since CUC announced the job vacancies for the executive director’s post on July 2, more than 20 applicants have submitted their résumés, CUC human resources manager Frankie Cepeda said.
“The applicants are all from off-island,” he said.
The job vacancy announcement for the executive director will be closed on Aug. 2.
Cepeda said some of the applicants have also applied for the deputy executive director’s position.
The JVA was originally for “deputy director for water and wastewater,” but CUC changed it to “deputy executive director.”
This JVA was closed on July 16.
Malae said they will hire first the executive director so he or she can help select the deputy executive director.
CUC has 18 JVAs for different positions, most of them for the water and wastewater division.
